Johnston Real Estate was established by James W. (Jim) Johnston in Wauneta, Nebraska in 1963. Jim's son, James P. (Page) Johnston joined the business in 1974, following his graduation from McCook Community College. He continued its operation following Jim's retirement in 1992.

John F. Burke
John is a Nebraska registered real property appraiser and Nebraska licensed real estate salesman. Born and raised in Imperial, he graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration, and joined his family's business – the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Imperial. John was elected president of the Bank in 1986, and served in that capacity until selling the Bank in 2007, and joining Johnston Real Estate in 2010.

Still based in Wauneta, a friendly little town in the Frenchman Creek valley, Johnston Real Estate offers agency (including seller agency, buyer agency, and dual agency); certified appraisals of agricultural, residential, and commercial properties; and consulting services for a variety of uses.
